"THE White Forest Is to Your Right" EXHIBITION

"Latki" is a site-specific project for the exhibition of natural integrations "The White Forest Is to Your Right", dedicated to the memory of the non-conformist poet Aleksandr Yeremenko. Alina uses fireclay and glazing to restore the trees. Through colour and shape, the resulting patches ("latki") contrast with the tree bark and create a space for reflection on trauma and the healing process.
"Inspired by Alexander Eremenko's poem "Peredelkino", which mixes the description of the landscape with the history of political repression of the place, I turn to plant witnesses by examining their disturbed surface.
The wounded tree is like a large poetic body maimed by injuries, not yet healed by time, not yet covered by bark. I duplicate these wood abrasions by restoring the integrity of the tree's cover on the one hand and by emphasizing the place of the wound on the other."
